I have been with the Artists’ Workshop group for almost 12 years. When I first joined I was fortunate to have had the experience of working with many of the original members of the group. It is because of their creative synergy that the group has been as successful as it is as they set high standards and established a strong foundation.
There is an Amy Poehler quote that Pat Katz found for us that says “Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.” This has been my experience with the group, I have been challenged and inspired by the people that I have worked with in the group and it has definitely changed my life for the better.
The creative synergy that happens with this group is the spark that keeps me painting and planning each year. Without the support of each member and the added bonus of working towards a show each year I’m not sure if I would be painting, learning and growing as much. We help each other discover new markets, we share resources and exchange ideas and techniques.
Being in an environment where everyone is creating and experimenting and accomplishing new things is energizing and motivating. It has lead to me taking chances in my own work and trying new things.
