I have been painting with the group for over 12 years. What becomes challenging after all that time is finding new ideas and new things to paint. When I am looking for images and trying to plan what my body of work might look like each year I often try to think up a theme. Sometimes the theme works with most images and sometimes it doesn’t. What does bring all of the paintings together in the end is my love and focus on storytelling. When I am working on a painting I like to bring in elements that will hopefully inspire a viewer to ask questions about what is going on or to be able to relate to a feeling or emotion. If I am able to elicit a smile or a reaction to the beauty of a colour then I feel that I have accomplished my goal.
