Anne Simmie

I am an artist from Saskatoon.  I studied fine art at ACA in the late 70s and early 80s, and then returned to Saskatoon.  I did drawing, painting, and showing here, as well as working at AKA and the Photographers’ Gallery before becoming a single parent and lacking time and materials for painting for some years.  However, I did illustrate 4 children’s books during that time.

During the late 80s and 90s I earned a Double Honours degree in Drama and Literature and worked in theatre a bit.  I came back to painting around 20 years ago, and showed at the Snelgrove Gallery and Thomas More at the U of S in Saskatoon.

I took 4 years to live and teach art and drama in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan from 2006 to 2010, doing some painting and showing there.

Since returning to Saskatoon, I have been working as an ESL teacher and doing a lot of painting.  In the last few years I have been shown at Hues Art,  SCYAP, Amigos’, and the Collectors’ Choice and Dandelion  galleries. I showed recent work at the Francess Morrison  Library Gallery in February/March of 2023.
