Throughout my lifetime I have done many creative things. I learned how to sew, quilt, cake decorate, do calligraphy, and play piano and guitar when I was younger. I grew up on a farm and there were no art teachers in our small rural schools but I continued to sew, quilt, and craft. I tried watercolor classes in my young adult years but wasn’t sure it was for me.
11 years ago I enrolled in the USCAD program to see if I could channel my creativity through paint. I started using acrylics and felt very comfortable with it. Paintings began to take shape and I immersed myself into the art world. From the beginning I was drawn to landscape art and I am particularly attracted to our beautiful prairie scenes, especially clouds and skies. Living on a farm meant I was surrounded by the vast green, gold, and blue spaces and open fields. Bright blue skies and interesting cloud formations; incredible jewel-toned sunsets; dark, brooding, grey storms; sparkling lakes and lush green forests; these call to me and stir a deep desire within to recreate the natural beauty around me. I really enjoy painting with bold colours and try to to entertain the the viewer with my color choices and realistic depictions of the landscape.
