My first love as a painter is exploring the countless possible processes of applying paint to a surface. I use a variety of techniques to hover between abstract and representational elements. My muses have largely been the dramatic Saskatchewan sky, forests and my garden.
During the three decades that I have been making and showing work in Saskatchewan, I have benefitted from the critique of many established artists both at Emma Lake Kenderdine Campus and in the Saskatoon community. I maintain an independent practice and have exhibited paintings in private and public galleries and in community venues. Refer to my website at artistsincanada.com/slavin for a full resume and images of my paintings.
My work has been represented by commercial galleries: Collector’s Choice in Saskatoon 2020-2023, And Art Gallery in Davidson 2017-2020, Rouge Gallery Saskatoon 2006-2017, McIntyre Gallery Regina 2008-2012, Dandelion Gallery Saskatoon 2024-present. I have been a Juried Artist with Saskatchewan Craft Council since 2017 and show in the Boutique. I am a member of Artists’ Workshop. I have exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions.
